Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 31, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Remember Wangwang ("we", "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you visit wangwangdog.org. We are a non-commercial memorial project, and we treat your privacy with care.

Information we collect

We collect only the minimum information needed to operate the site. When you leave a memorial message or light a candle, we store the content you submit along with a device-level visitor identifier. We do not require accounts, and we do not collect your name, email, or payment details directly on this site.

Anonymous visit statistics

To understand our global reach, we count visits using a randomly generated, device-level identifier. This identifier contains no personally identifiable information. Aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as total visits and countries) may be displayed publicly on the site.

Donations and payments

Donations are processed by PayPal, a third-party payment provider. We never receive or store your full card or bank details. PayPal handles your payment information under its own Privacy Policy. Donation amounts and your decision to donate are recorded only as needed for transparency reporting.

Cookies and local storage

We use a small amount of local storage to remember your preferred language and to keep the anonymous visitor identifier. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies beyond the basic analytics described above.

Data storage and security

All data is stored on access-controlled cloud infrastructure (Cloudflare) and transmitted exclusively over HTTPS/TLS encryption. We apply the following safeguards to protect your information:

• Encryption in transit: 100% of traffic between your browser and our servers uses TLS/HTTPS.
• Secure storage: we do not operate user accounts, so we never store account passwords. Visitor identifiers are random, non-reversible values. We never store full card or bank details — payments are handled by our payment processors.
• Access controls: backend access follows the least-privilege principle and is limited to the site operator; all personnel are bound by confidentiality obligations.
• Regular reviews: we perform routine security reviews, keep software dependencies up to date, and use abuse protections (rate limiting, bot challenges, content moderation).
• Backups: data is backed up regularly to prevent loss.

In the event of a security incident affecting your personal data, we will notify you and the relevant authorities within 72 hours of discovery, as required by law. Please keep your own devices and browsers secure; this site uses no account credentials, so there are none for you to protect here.

Your rights

You may request removal of any memorial message you submitted, or request that your visit data no longer be counted, by contacting us. Where applicable, you may also exercise rights granted by your local privacy laws (such as GDPR or CCPA).
